Aspen Lodge Information
Aspen Lodge is the Sierra Canyon homeowners’ 20,000+ square-foot community center, with rooms for recreation, meetings, and presentations; a gym, swimming pool, walking track, library, and more. The Lodge also provides office space for the management company (currently First Services Residential, or FSR), contracted by the SCA Board of Directors.
FSR staff at Aspen Lodge include community management, lodge attendants, and fitness, events, and grounds coordinators. In addition to Lodge administration, FSR collects homeowner assessments, generates financial statements and collection reports, communicates with homeowners and the Board, and acts in an advisory capacity.

Monica Rios moved to Reno from Southern California just over 6-years ago. Prior to joining the FirstService/Sierra Canyon team, Monica held a position at Grand Sierra Resort and Casino (GSR) as an Executive Director of Support Operations. In 2015 she was the recipient of the Nevada’s Fund Women of Achievement award representing the Grand Sierra Resort. In her free time, Monica enjoys spending time with her husband Victor, two children Jace, 20, Daniella (Dani), 11 and their two dogs Copper the Boxer and Khloe the French Bulldog. She enjoys weight training, going to the movies and finding new restaurants

Lynne Peterson is our Fitness Coordinator at Sierra Canyon. She has worked at Sierra Canyon for over 2 years and loves working with the folks here. Lynne has two daughters Kylie, a sophomore at UNR and Corrie, a senior at McQueen High School. For the past 10 years, Lynne has raised her daughter as a single parent, with the passing of her husband from cancer in 2008. She has an Associate Degree in Business Administration and fitness Certifications in water fitness by the American Sports and Fitness Association, Aerobic instruction and personal trainer certifications by the International Fitness Association, and Zumba and CPR certifications. If you need any assistance with your health and fitness, stop by and see Lynne in the fitness area. She would love to talk to you!

Yami has lived in Reno with her family since 2018. Previously, she lived in San Diego California, where she was born and raised. Prior to joining GrandManors/ Sierra Canyon, she was the Office Manager for the Montbleau & Associates Reno location. She holds a Bachelor’s Degree in Liberal Studies and has experience in customer relations and computer work, education, as well as communications. She has formed part of teams in business services, manufacturing, customer service, and now property management communications. In her free time, Yami enjoys spending time with her Husband Many and her 7 year-old daughter, Victoria. She really enjoys all that Reno has to offer such as lakes and beautiful views.
I grew up in Southern New Jersey. I attended the Wharton School at the University of Pennsylvania where I earned both BS and MBA degrees. I served in the US Army from 1969 to 1973. My professional focus was Logistics management for national retailers such as Avon Products, Toys R Us, Target and Office Depot. My wife Dawn is the “Sunshine of My Life”! My daughter and son in law both teach in the Washoe County School District. My son is a District Manager for the American Honda Corporation. He and his wife reside in Albuquerque NM. I have two grandsons who live locally who make every day an exciting adventure.
Craig ‘Doc’ Hill
Esther Lucas is a retired Director of Parks & Community Services for the City of San Ramon, CA. She holds a BA from the University of North Carolina in Creative Arts, an AA degree in Business, a Masters of Science Degree in Recreation Administration and Recreation Therapy from California State University, Long Beach, and spent 2 summers in post-graduate studies at Duke University at the American Dance Festival. She holds certification as a Recreation Therapist and Ballet Fitness Instructor. Esther began her dance education at age 5 in Cape Cod, Massachusetts (her birthplace)and studied in North Carolina, Boston, New York, and California and continues to study dance today. She danced professionally in ballet and modern dance companies in North Carolina and California where she also did video/music/acting.
Michelle lives in Reno, NV, holds a B.S. in Business Management and an MBA from the University of Nevada, Reno.

I am Marcos Talancon, born and raised here in Reno, I live in Hungry Valley with my wife Sandra and family. I’ve studied Tai Chi Yang Style short form 37 postures, developed by Professor Cheng Man Ching, for 24 years. I have been teaching full time since my teacher passed away in March of 2014. I now continue my studies under teacher Benjamin Lo of San Francisco, where professor first student and has studied Tai Chi over 60 years.
Dianna is a fitness instructor with advanced training and certifications in Yoga, Water Fitness and Group Exercise. She was a competitive runner for over 25 years, racing distances from 800 meters to the marathon. Much of her training and coaching included swimming, Yoga, and Pilates and she has been a student of these disciplines for most of her life. Her experience and studies with athletic performance and the mind/body connection includes five years in an anatomy lab, lecturing and tutoring premed students. Fitness became her retirement career after moving from Santa Barbara, CA to the Tahoe area 12 years ago. Dianna is a firm believer in doing what you can with what you have. Her motto is “If you don’t move it, it will stop moving”
As Sierra Canyon residents, Kathleen and her husband David live in Village 9. Kathleen is a graduate of Yoga Teacher Training and is a Yoga Alliance Certified Yoga Instructor. She’s always loved yoga and has been practicing it for over 35 years.
Kathleen is a retired school teacher, counselor, and social worker. She has a Life Teaching Credential for preschool, grades K-12, and adults. Kathleen holds a Master of Science degree in Psychology/Behavior Analysis, a Bachelor’s Degree in Liberal Studies, and two Associates Degrees; one in Liberal Arts and the second in Fine Arts.
Her hobbies include yoga, fitness, playing the piano, and all types of needlework.

Born and raised in Mexico, my passion for dance started at a very early age, when my father took me to my first ballet class, a discipline that I practiced until I moved away to attend college. I found Zumba at the age of 17 and was immediately hooked! Taught some classes but became a licensed instructor 6 years ago, in my adoptive city or Reno. I enjoy helping others reach their fitness goals while having fun! I’ve met so many amazing people who share the love for Zumba and I hope my students look forward to coming to my class, and leave happy, refreshed, stress free and oh so sweaty!
Carol Sturgeon moved to Sierra Canyon in July 2017 after retiring from a health care career in Colorado. Originally from Maine, Carol lived in Southern California for many years where she raised her two daughters. Carol also boasts 5 grandchildren aged 3 ½ to 30 and a soon-to-be great-grandson.
Carol’s interests include volunteering with the Great Basin Institute, gardening with native plants, photography, hiking and reading. Carol holds certifications to teach fitness programs from several credentialing organizations, including the Weld County, Colorado Department of Public Health and Human Services, the International Sports Medicine Association and TaiJiFit International. Carol is currently studying to be certified to teach Tai Chi for Veterans with the Veteran’s Administration’s Community of Care Network. Carol expects to complete her certification in Senior Fitness and Nutrition in March, 2020.
Carol is a Native Plant Master with Colorado State University and a Certified Interpretive Guide with the National Association of Interpretation.
Carol offers the Morning Flow and Move for Balance classes at Aspen Lodge. She also offers private assessment and consultation for gait and balance questions.
Kerry Teegen Dickinson
Kerry began her yoga journey by studying teaching yoga to children of all ages through YogaKids. She then became a certified adult yoga teacher at YogaWorks in the Hatha tradition. Kerry has experience teaching yoga to children ages 8+ and to teen athletes. She has also taught yoga to children with disabilities. Kerry teaches a gentle, fundamental yoga class that complements an active lifestyle for all ages and abilities. She has also worked with students 60+ years old and enjoys watching how her students open up to the possibilities yoga offers them on and off the mat. Kerry has a genuine love of yoga and it shows in her positive, nurturing teaching style. Kerry also has a Master’s Degree in Reading and a teaching background.
Victoria is dedicated to helping her clients tap into the transformative power of mindful exercise. Her classes emphasize alignment and form, as well as great music and silly jokes. She has extensive training and teaching experience in many forms of movement and fitness, including: Reformer and Mat Pilates; Vinyasa, Power, and Iyengar-based Yoga; Gravity Systems; Stability (Swiss) Balls; and solo and partner dance (Argentine Tango, Jazz, Ballroom, Latin, and Swing). With a PhD in Geography, she has been teaching at UNR since January 2001. She is also a Voice Actor and is devoted to her cats.
