PRESIDENT – Loren Farell
Loren and Deena Farell bought into Sierra Canyon in late 2010 and moved in permanently in August 2013 after Loren retired as a Detective Lieutenant from the LAPD and Deena as a Pediatric Physical Therapist.
They both enjoy traveling in both their motorhome and on cruises. Loren is a fly fisherman and active with the fly tying group here at Sierra Canyon and Deena enjoys the various fitness groups. Both are active participants in the Sierra Canyon social activities and are very happy here in Northern Nevada.
VICE PRESIDENT – Dale Stephens
Dale and his wife, Karen Craner, moved here in late 2012 from Albuquerque. They spent about six years looking for a place to retire before choosing Sierra Canyon and Reno as their retirement home. Dale spent 37 years in the technology field, managing for 35 years and retiring as Chief Information Officer. He spent most of his career helping companies reduce costs and be more productive. You could say that there was nothing as constant as change in his career. He was recognized by a Fortune 50 company at their annual meeting for having saved the company about ten million dollars a year.
In Albuquerque he was on an HOA board of directors for seven years, serving as President for the last two years. He was able to save the community thousands of dollars on different projects.
Dale has degrees from the University of Idaho, the Thunderbird Graduate School of International Management, the Honeywell Institute of Information Sciences, and Villanova University.
TREASURER – Ray Lee
Ray has had 30+ years in corporate accounting and finance experience working an international company with extensive operations in North America. He retired early in 2005 after making the final college tuition payments for his twin daughters, even before their graduation. Ray and his wife, Selene, grew up in San Francisco, but have lived in CT and NJ for over 20+ years before moving to Sierra Canyon at the end of 2006.
He was elected by Somersett and Sierra Canyon owners to serve on the Somersett Owners Association board during the last 2 years of developer control and first 2 years of homeowner board control. He was the SOA Treasurer during that time. Ray believes that serving on committees and getting involved is the best way for everyone to understand the community we live in.
Secretary – Suzanne “Chippy” Flynn
My husband, Brian, and I moved from Des Moines, Iowa to a rental home in Sierra Canyon in October 2011. We moved into our newly construction home in July of 2012. We had looked at many 55-plus communities, but Sierra Canyon was the community that met all of our criteria.
I was an elementary school teacher for more than 36 years. We have one daughter who lives in the Portland, Oregon area with her husband and two children.
Since moving here, my husband and I have become the Tuesday Community Social and I was the Village Delegate to my village for the Sierra Canyon Voice.
We are active participants in many social events at Sierra Canyon and love all that the Lodge has to offer the community’s residents.
DIRECTOR – Virginia “Ginny” Casazza
Ginny Casazza, NCG-Emeritus, is a retired private professional fiduciary, guardian and paralegal. Ms. Casazza has extensive experience serving non-profit organizations and associations as a member and leader of their Boards of Directors and committees, serving as a chairperson and in several officer positions including as Treasurer and as President. She has over twenty-five years of professional experience in office administration, guardianship, estate and trust administration, legal administration, business management and association governance. During her service as President of the National Guardianship Association, Ms. Casazza monitored and participated in the work and activities of 23 standing and ad hoc committees as well as representing the association at conferences, advocacy opportunities, with the media, on collaborative projects with like organizations, with development of state and federal legislation and conducting outreach with its 24 state affiliate organizations. Ms. Casazza has served Sierra Canyon Association as a member of its Budget and Finance Committee. Ms. Casazza has lived in Reno, Nevada for almost thirty years; she moved to Sierra Canyon in 2014 with her husband, Paul Casazza.
DIRECTOR – Tom Hedger
Tom has 32+ years in global fortune 500 companies working as Senior Vice President, Chief Financial Officer, Treasurer and Director in diverse industries. Overseeing companies, subsidiaries and partnerships in North America, Caribbean and South Korea. He semi-retired in 2013 to open his own security trading company, one of his passions. Tom grew up in the suburbs of Detroit with corporate transfer’s has lived in TX, OH, NJ and LA. Tom met Laura while living NJ, Laura wanted to live near her daughter who lived in Reno. Laura moved from NJ and Tom from New Orleans to Sierra Canyon in July, 2016.
Tom is an active participant of the hiking, snow showing, walk and talk, investment, options and Tuesday social groups at Sierra Canyon. You will see Tom walking his dog, Smitty, throughout Sierra Canyon and Somersett. Getting involved in and serving on the board, committees and groups is the best way to make Sierra Canyon a better place to live.
